Quito and Cuenca, listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, are both, the most important colonial towns in Ecuador. Built in the style of Spanish Andalusian architecture these are two of the best preserved colonial sites in the whole continent. Besides the quiet and picturesque scenery, you will be delighted by its 17th and 18th-century buildings, its traditional food, crafts, and daily life of locals, not to mention their huge historical importance in the Independence of Ecuador. All along the Andes you will find little villages showing the splendor of Spanish conquest.
